Professional pianist makes special appearance for students in Hart schools

Muskegon, Michigan, Sept. 22, 2017 – Muskegon’s West Michigan Symphony is bringing Cuban pianist Aldo López Gavilán to the Hart Public Schools Auditorium, Tuesday Sept. 26 at 2:00 pm, to play a special performance for children from area schools.


López-Gavilán’s recital will feature original compositions that combine Cuban musical traditions with other influences from around the world. The 30-40 minute performance will also feature a question and answer session, allowing students to learn more about what it is like to be a professional performing artist.


This performance is presented by the West Michigan Symphony in conjunction with the Sept. 29 kick off of its 78th concert season. The Friday evening concert, conducted by Music Director Scott Speck, features López Gavilán in Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G major and Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue.”


Single tickets start at $22 for adults. All student tickets are $10. All West Michigan Symphony Performances are Fridays at 7:30 p.m. at the Frauenthal Center in downtown Muskegon.
