Cole Sheffer - Bass
Cole Sheffer began his music journey in Purcellville, Virginia picking up the bass at age 12 after being fascinated by the rich, resonant sounds of the instrument. In his youth, Cole performed a wide range of styles including classical, jazz, and rock music. Currently, Cole is pursuing a Master of Music in Performance at Michigan State University, where he studies under Kevin Brown. Cole completed his Bachelor of Music in Performance at James Madison University under Sam Suggs. In addition to being a member of the West Michigan Symphony, Cole also holds a position with the Flint Symphony and has performed with the South Bend Symphony. As a dedicated educator, Cole works as a sectional coach and private instructor across Michigan, working with students from middle school to collegiate levels. His summer festival appearances include the Mostly Modern Music Festival, Brevard Jazz Institute, and Sewanee Summer Music Festival.
Away from the bass, Cole maintains an active lifestyle through weight-lifting, running, and yoga. Also a passionate trainer, Cole enjoys working with fellow musicians to promote movement as a tool to enhance performance and practice.
