Click Clack Moosic returns to The Block this fall
Muskegon, Michigan, Aug. 22, 2014 – The West Michigan Symphony’s children’s musical story time program, Click Clack Moosic returns to The Block this fall.
After a successful introduction early this year, West Michigan Symphony’s Click Clack Moosic bring the series back to The Block starting in late-September for another run. Click Clack Moosic is a children’s concert series using books by author Doreen Cronin, “Click Clack Moo,” “Giggle Giggle Quack” and “Dooby Dooby Moo.” The program invites children (ages 3-7) and their families to a live musical-story time event. Children will meet musicians, learn about basic music concepts, interact with the narrator throughout the story and hear live music performed, specifically written for the Click Clack Moosic program.
The program is a WMS exclusive with music written by Phil Popham, WMS principal English horn, and performed by eight WMS musicians acting as farm animals. The narration was written by Karen Vander Zanden, WMS education director and Nancy Ireland, Spring Lake schools music educator. The narrator will guide the audience through the program as Popham keeps the music moving as each story is read.
Three separate Moosic programs will be offered at The Block beginning September 2014. Each one of the stories will offer a distinct and unique learning experience.
• Music and Story Time #1: Sept. 27, Click Clack Moosic! What are Dynamics?
• Music and Story Time #2: Oct. 18, Giggle Giggle Quack! What is Tempo?
• Music and Story Time #3: Nov. 15, Dooby Dooby MOO! What is Pitch?
Performances will be held Saturdays at the The Block, second floor, 360 W. Western Ave. Each performance will start at 10:30 a.m. and last approximately 90 minutes.
Every program finishes with “moo” milk, “quackers” (cookies) and time to take pictures in front of the Click Clack “Moosic” barn or get autographs from the WMS staff.
Tickets are available as a series or may be purchased individually for each story time event. Single tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children 13 and under. Series tickets are $26 for adults and $11 for children. Children under 3 are free.
Seating is limited to 150 and tickets can be purchased at the West Michigan Symphony ticket office: 231.726.3231 ext. 223 or in person at 360 W. Western Ave. in Muskegon.
Made possible by a grant from the Raymond C. and Evelyn P. Alstrom Memorial Fund of the Community Foundation for Muskegon County, Click Clack Moosic will soon take their show on the road! With the generous support of an anonymous donor, the program is slated for travel to a Muskegon school this fall and has future plans travel to more local schools, community centers and libraries.
