Sept. 20 Concert Brings ArtPrize Jazz Category Winner to Muskegon

Muskegon, Michigan, Sept. 2, 2014 – On Saturday, Sept. 20, Brad Fritcher + Quatre will weave an unconventional blend of jazz, punk, hip-hop, and other influences into a musical tapestry @TheBlock in downtown Muskegon.

Brad Fritcher + Trois were first place winners of the jazz category at ArtPrize 2013 with their single from their debut album “Blue Lake Studio Sessions” titled “Smooth Silk.”

Trumpeter Fritcher will be introducing a new quintet @The Block featuring a blend of Chicago and West Michigan musicians including Ryan Wallace on upright bass, Charles Cameron on piano/Rhodes, Michael Vuona on drums and Blake Cross on tenor.

Along with new bandmates, Fritcher also intends to debut new compositions at the Saturday evening concert. “The past year has been a very fruitful time period, which naturally led to an abundance of creative energy. The focus of my attention, and the attention of the others within the group, all went to writing and recording what we have to contribute to music,” Said Fritcher. “We all have spent our time learning and studying others’ music, now is the time that we expose ourselves to the world around us. It is very stimulating and exciting to debut your own personal voice.”

Many of the new compositions featured @The Block will also be heard on the band’s new album “The Year of the Architects,” due to be released early November. Served up with a selection of cheeses and a cash bar that opens at 6:30, Brad Fritcher + Quatre will take the stage at 7:30.

Tickets for the event are $20 and available at the West Michigan Symphony ticket office: 231.726.3231 ext. 223; online at www.westmichigansymphony.org; or in person at 360 W. Western Ave. in Muskegon.
