Click Clack Moosic returns to The Block for 2015

Muskegon, Michigan, Jan. 13, 2015 – West Michigan Symphony is rolling out another run of the children’s musical story time program, Click Clack Moosic.

After a successful introduction early last year, West Michigan Symphony (WMS) is bringing the 3-part Click Clack Moosic series back to The Block starting Feb.14 and with the generous support of an anonymous donor, will take a single performance to Lakeside Elementary School in Muskegon late-January.

Click Clack Moosic is a children’s concert series using the “Click Clack Moo,” series of books by Doreen Cronin. The program invites children and their families to a live interactive musical-story time event. Children will have the opportunity to meet professional musicians, learn about basic music concepts and hear live music that is specifically written for the Click Clack Moosic program.

The program is a WMS exclusive with music written by Phil Popham, WMS principal English horn, and performed by eight Symphony musicians who portray the farm animals. The narration was written by Karen Vander Zanden, WMS education director and Nancy Ireland, Spring Lake schools music educator. Vander Zanden guides the audience through the story as Popham keeps the music moving.

Every program finishes with “moo” milk, “quackers” (cookies) and time to take pictures in front of the Click Clack Moosic barn.

While the program at Lakeside Elementary will be for students and staff only; all three separate programs will be offered Saturday mornings at The Block 360 W. Western Ave., early this year:

• Music and Story Time #1: Feb. 14, Click Clack Moosic! What are Dynamics?
• Music and Story Time #2: March 21, Giggle Giggle Quackle! What is Tempo?
• Music and Story Time #3: April 25, Dooby Dooby Moosic! What is Pitch?

Each program introduces a distinct and unique learning experience. Performances will begin at 10:30 a.m. and last approximately 90 minutes.

The series is made possible by a grant from the Raymond C. and Evelyn P. Alstrom Memorial Fund of the Community Foundation for Muskegon County.

Tickets are available as a series or may be purchased individually for each story time event. Single tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children 13 and under. Series tickets are $26 for adults and $11 for children. Children under 3 are free.
