West Michigan Symphony’s 2017-2018 Masterworks concerts will be broadcast by Blue Lake Public Radio

Broadcasts begin Sunday, October 7 at 1:00 p.m. with Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue.

Muskegon, Michigan, October 4, 2018—Blue Lake Public Radio is truly West Michigan’s classical music community of the air. The station works hard to promote area musical happenings through announcements; interviews are held frequently with regional and visiting artists; and the radio’s on-air personalities are well-known and deeply engaged in the area arts scene. Each of West Michigan Symphony’s Masterworks concerts are recorded by station manager Steve Alpert, and made available to listeners in a weekly series of broadcasts each fall.

The first program of the fall 2018 WMS broadcasts will be aired at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, October 7. This will feature the entire season opening concert from September 2017. Conducted by Scott Speck, the concert included Wagner’s Overture to The Flying Dutchman; Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G; and Gershwin’s An American in Paris and Rhapsody in Blue. The soloist was Aldo Lopez-Gavilan.
