Hosted in The Block, our small performance hall in downtown Muskegon, adjacent to the West Michigan Symphony Offices.
The West Michigan Symphony Children's Choir (WMSCC) is a high-quality choral group for children ages 8-13. The Children's Choir provides choral training and experience to school-aged children throughout West Michigan. The WMSCC performs at West Michigan Symphony concerts and independent concerts throughout the community.
The ensemble is directed by Mrs. Beth Slimko, an experienced music teacher and choral director. Mrs. Slimko currently directs the North Muskegon Public School choir program and is the vocal music specialist for elementary music.
Members are selected through an audition process held each spring and fall. Rehearsals take place Tuesday evenings at 6 pm at The Block, 360 W Western Ave, Muskegon, 2nd floor.

WMS Children's Choir Director Beth Slimko
Beth Slimko holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Education with dual concentrations in vocal and instrumental pedagogy from Butler University. She also holds a Masters Degree in Elementary Education from Grand Valley State University. Additional studies include time with the Indianapolis Children’s Choir under the mentorship of Henry Leck, the Zoltan Kodaly Pedagogical Institute in Hungary and many years of advanced training in Education through Music with the Richards Institute. Ms. Slimko has also served as a clinician for Michigan Music Education Association events and Michigan State Vocal Music Association conferences as well as a Kindermusik instructor.
