Multifaceted Jazz Singer and Pianist Bryan Eng brings his celebrated trio to West Michigan
Muskegon, Michigan, January 13, 2023—With a sound and stage presence that combines Nat King Cole and Harry Connick Jr., jazz pianist Bryan Eng’s musicality packs a punch of energy and what the Chicago Sun-Times called “undeniable star wattage!” A protégé of Emmet Cohen, the versatile young performer is making big strides across the entertainment scene, from Broadway, TV, feature films, commercials, and revered performance venues. He has performed at the Kennedy Center, Drury Lane Theatre, Lookingglass Theatre, Marriott Theatre, Ford’s Theatre, Nighttown and others. This month, Eng brings his trio to downtown Muskegon, performing at The Block for the very first time at 7:30pm Friday, January 27.
Growing up in Potomac, Maryland, Bryan began singing and playing the piano at the age of five, developing his fluid classical technique. His natural showmanship ultimately led him to the theatre, and access to the vibrant DC arts scene proved influential to his burgeoning career even before graduating high school. He studied both theatre and music at Northwestern University where, once again, his proximity to a world-class entertainment capital would prove invaluable. Shortly before turning 20, he signed with one of Chicago’s leading artist agencies, Stewart Talent. Soon after, he released his tour de force debut album, 20, a veritable showcase of his diverse prowess as a singer, pianist, arranger, orchestrator and producer leading a 27-piece jazz orchestra.
Since then, Bryan’s stardom has only found further footing. In the past couple of years, he has been featured in numerous commercials for major brands, acted in feature films, received rave reviews from the Chicago Sun-Times, Chicago Tribune and Chicago Now, and headlined sold-out jazz shows around the country. In 2022, Bryan was cast as an understudy in the Broadway production of Neil Simon’s Plaza Suite starring Matthew Broderick and Sarah Jessica Parker. Now, living in the entertainment capital of the world, Bryan’s talents are being recognized on the most elite stages.
