About the West Michigan Symphony's Youth Programs
The West Michigan Symphony Children's Choir (WMSCC) cultivates and encourages students ages 8-13, achievement through quality music education and the pursuit of artistic excellence in choral music. Through a partnership with the West Michigan Symphony, WMSCC is a catalyst for the arts in West Michigan by making a difference in the musical lives of children and their families. Exciting performance opportunities and making friendships are just part of why so many children look to join this talented choir.
The West Michigan Symphony Debut Strings is a beginner to intermediate string program for youth. Under the direction of a professional string conductor these string musicians build playing skills through regular rehearsals and exciting performance opportunities. This audition-based program reaches children from a numerous school districts and supports music education in our communities.
The West Michigan Symphony Premier Strings is an advanced string ensemble for those who have auditioned and proved their advanced playing abilities. Premier members experience opportunities unlike any in the area. Students are invited to perform on stage with the West Michigan Symphony Orchestra once a year, perform for gala events, pre-concert events and other exciting performances.
