Fabian Correa - Percussion
A Native of Cartagena, Colombia, Fabian Enrique Correa Güette is regarded as a dynamic, engaging, and captivating percussionist.
He holds section percussion positions in the Battle Creek Symphony Orchestra and the West Michigan Symphony Orchestra. He is also the principal percussionist of the Opera Festival of Chicago.
In demand as professional percussionist/timpanist, he has performed with the Milwaukee Symphony, West Michigan Symphony, Lansing Symphony, Chicago Philharmonic, Opera Festival Chicago, Champaign-Urbana Symphony Orchestra, Danville Symphony, Rapides Symphony Orchestra, South Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, among others. Fabian was selected as one of the percussionists of the Youth Orchestra of Colombia 2021 and was a member of the Orchestra Academy of the Americas 2020. Other notable performances in his career have taken place at important conferences such as WASBE in Spain, National Conference for Percussion Pedagogy, and Louisiana Days of Percussion. He was also part of the Louisiana All-Star Collegiate Percussion Ensemble in 2019.
Fabian also enjoys teaching and is an active educator in the Greater Chicago area. He has presented several masterclasses in Illinois, Texas, Louisiana, and Colombia, in addition to teaching lessons to students of varying levels.
Fabian Holds a Performance Diploma in Orchestral Studies from the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University, a Master’s degree in Music Performance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and he also holds both a Bachelor’s degree in Music Performance and a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering and Technology from Northwestern State University of Louisiana. His primary teachers include Ed Harrison, Vadim Karpinos, William Moersch, Ricardo Flores, Ken Green, Oliver Molina, Elber Cediel, and Fernando Vargas. .
He currently lives in Chicago where he enjoys spending his free time with his wife, playing soccer and passionately rooting for FC Barcelona.
