Nick De Laurentis Associate Principal - Bass

Nick De Laurentis is a double bassist based in Chicago. A Southern California native, Nick attended DePaul University in Chicago, studying double bass under Alexander Hanna of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. He went on to receive his master’s degree from Northwestern University under the tutelage of Andrew Raciti of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra.

Nick won the Associate Principal Bass position with the Western Michigan Symphony in late 2024. He is the Assistant Principal Bass for the Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra and the Southwest Michigan Symphony Orchestra. Other notable engagements include performances with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, Quad Cities Symphony Orchestra, and his time as a member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago.

As a passionate performer of contemporary music, Nick has attended the Fresh Inc Festival and has spent two summers as a fellow in the Lucerne Festival Contemporary Orchestra in Lucerne, Switzerland.

Nick also teaches privately in the Chicagoland area and enjoys honing his skills as an electric bassist, composer, and audio engineer. Nick plays on a bass made by Andrew Stetson, Christopher Roberts, and William Lakeberg, and a bow made by Bernard Walke.
