Rebecca Miller - Viola
Chicago-based violist Rebecca Miller has extensive experience across a variety of genres, both onstage and in the pit. She is the assistant principal of the Northwest Indiana Symphony, a member of Orchestra Iowa, West Michigan Symphony, and Camerata Chicago, and a substitute musician for the Milwaukee, Elgin, Rockford, and South Bend Symphonies as well as Chicago Sinfonietta. Previously, she has played for the Ontario Philharmonic, Niagara Symphony, Symphony New Hampshire, and the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as in productions with Chicago Summer Opera, San Diego’s Opera NEO, the Boston Opera Collaborative, and Commonwealth Lyric Opera. She completed the 2023 National Academy Orchestra’s Mentorship Program in Ottawa, performing as part of the NAC Orchestra.
As a chamber musician, Rebecca has recently performed in a program of contemporary music alongside Chicago Civic Orchestra Fellows, and as a member of the Highwood Quartet, appearing at venues throughout the Toronto area and earning a top prize in the Glenn Gould School Chamber Music Competition. Outside the concert hall, she has been involved as both performer and organizer with Shelter Music Boston, bringing chamber music to underserved audiences in shelters and rehabilitation facilities throughout New England.
Rebecca holds degrees from Northwestern University’s Bienen School of Music, the Glenn Gould School, and the Boston Conservatory, and has studied with Helen Callus, Steven Dann, Rictor Noren, Nicholas Cords and Lewis Rosove.
